Shihan Matt Hurlburt

Matt Hurlburt is one of the lucky few foreign students of Master Koryu Muramatsu, head of the Myofu-An Kobujutsu Kenkyu-kai of Noda City, Japan. Matt made the move to Japan in 2004 to study with Master Muramatsu. He maintained residency in Japan for several years, training on a regular basis under Muramatsu Sensei’s guidance. Matt holds a teaching license in the Myofu-An system and resides in Japan during the summer months to study with his teacher.

Matt began his martial arts studies at age nine, eventually attaining his 2nd degree black belt in Aikido. He studied with UFC legend Royce Gracie and received his blue belt directly from Royce. Matt served as Royce’s assistant at a seminar in Oita City, Kyushu, Japan.

Shidoshi-ho Jeff Sorbo

Jeff Sorbo began his bujutsu studies in 1997. He first met Muramatsu Sensei in 2001 and has been an active member of the Myofu-An Kobujutsu Kenkyu-kai for over five years. Jeff has a 3rd degree black belt in Myofu-An Bujutsu and serves as an assistant instructor.
